6, Honeywell RTH111 Connect Wires
Simply match wire labels.
If the label does not match the letters on the thermostat, check “Alternative wiring” on page 6 and connect to the terminals as shown (see note below).
Alternate Wiring
If the labels do not match the letters on the thermostat, check the diagram below and connect to the terminals as shown here (see note below).
- If the wires are connected to terminals R and Rc, remove the metal jumpers.
- Do not use C or X. Wrap electrical tape around the bare ends of the wires.
- If you have a heat pump without additional/backup heating, connect O or B, not both. If you do not have a heat pump, do not connect B. Wrap the bare ends of the wires with electrical tape.
- Place a bridge (a piece of wire) between the Y and W if you are using a non-add/post-heat heat pump.
7. Honeywell RTH111 Install Batteries
Install two AAA alkaline batteries
8. Honeywell RTH111 Set fan operation switch
Move the switch to the proper setting:
Gas or Oil: In the case of gas or oil heaters, leave the fan operation switch in this factory setting (for systems that control the fan when heat is required).
Electric or Heat Pump: Change this setting switch for heat pumps or electric heating systems. (This setting applies to systems that allow the thermostat to control the fan when heat is required when the fan cable is connected to terminal G.)
9. Install Thermostat onto Wallplate
Install the thermostat on the wall plate.
10. Turn Power Back On
Reconnect or turn power to the heating/cooling system.
